After investigating the mysterious sect, the Watcher either convinces Aloth that he isn't responsible (allowing him to continue is work) or that he is responsible (causing him to drop his pursuits). I think it sounds interesting in theory at least, more interesting than the first game where I basically never once swapped a Grimoire, and finding new ones was mostly pointless except in the few rare ones that had unique spells to learn. In the end, it was a design decision (of which the pros and cons can be argued endlessly) which is here to stay. I'm only playing on normal difficulty, but the battles are plenty hard enough for me (just about right, I'd say). Imbue spell effects gain increased Accuracy from Arcana skill. Even with the big buff to Deflection, the Wizard's defenses are too weak for him to just stand and take punishment. Wizards potentially spend quite some time just throwing their wand around and slapping it against things and people, and being able to gratuitously blast someone in the face is an enjoyable experience. I believe they can even have special power and enchantments on them, just like weapons and armor. It totally depends how you want to play those. I'm not really looking for magic damage as I read a thread on this forum that said something along the lines that nuking in this game was not as good as the one you'd see in a D&D game. Just allow their editing as in POE1, and provide an "ironman" type game mode to turn off the infuriating Diablo auto-regeneration of health and spells, and I'm a happy Deadfire player.
